Guys. GUYS.

Have I got some shit for you!

On this episode of "What Used to Be in My Belly, but is Now...Somewhere Else," I'm including some favesies of mine.

Ya'll ready for this? *kicks the jams*

TCBY has fucking chocolate almond vegan soft serve and it was delish! If you had the pleasure of trying this stuff while it was out, let me know. It was thick, full of chocolatey goodness (AKA flavor). Perfection in a tiny cup. There's like, two TCBY's here and the one I went to is in Rosedale Mall. Holler at ya girl, RDM. Fun fact: I used to work there.

This burger's amazingosity (that word is TM'd by me btw, no stealing ya jerks) is brought to you by People's Organic, which is a nice little eatery that makes their own vegan mayo and has everything labeled on the menu (V for vegan and such). This place is over yonder in a 'burb called Edina. It's a nice place and the food is good. This burger was delectable, but you could tell the vegan mayo was homemade. It was kind of gritty and didn't really taste like mayo in my opinion. Otherwise, a delicious burger that held together well!

And now, for the doozy. This vegan burger knocks it out of the park for me. It is everything I would want in a burger. That's a lie. It needed a little more sauce in my opinion, but the burger itself is fantastic and looks to be made of beets? Doesn't taste like it though. In fact, get the chipotle burger. Or the Italian burger. They will rock your socks off with flavor!
These are from The Bulldog NE, and it is  one bombass eatery. I can sit there, get my Angry Orchard on tap, my vegan burger and be happy as a very alive little clam watching my favorite sport (football) (not really-soccer is better, but I like watching football too). Just ask for the veg menu-there are SO MANY OPTIONS IT IS INSANE *head explodes*. So go there now!

I love having this blog. My brain is so weird.

URGH.

Just...urgh.
I am a very strong advocate of getting down, but last night this Rachel Maddow ('ween 2013 costume) got DOWN. Yeah that's right, I party. Hard too, you'd better believe it.

ANYWAYS!
(...urgh)

Vegan food! Yes! That's what I came here to talk about. So.

The other week, I took my good friend Ryan out to celebrate her crushing breast cancer (! I know!), and I took her to Kitty Corner Cafe, a nice little vegan-friendly breffest or lunch place for those that enjoy eating tasty shit.

I got the two items on the menu that were vegan. BEHOLD!!!:

So that top guy right there? Yeah, that's a fucking vegan panini. It was crunchy, cheesy and I couldn't get enough. The waffle at the bottom was pretty good too, though I'm not big on sweets so much anymore. The texture of the waffle was fluffy and perfect and it was filled with strawberries, bananas and chocolate drizzle. Fucking...yum.

This place is nestled in Stadium Village, over by the U of M East Campus. Go get some...or my hungover butt will come after you. I WILL, DON'T YOU MAKE ME DO IT.

Crunkdate.

That, my friends, is the combining of two words: crunk and update. In other words, a crunk update...take that as you will.

My mother and I had an excursion to Chicago the other weekend and it was amazing. We ate at all sorts of places and would like to shout out to West Town Bakery and Diner (vegan donuts, cakeballs and other baked goodies), Karyn's Cooked (amazing food), and of course, The Chicago Diner (amazing food and shakes...ugh, those shakes)

Oh man-Pizza's Luce in St Paul's Vegan Slice Thursday IS A THING, PEOPLE. GET YOUR BUTTS OVER THERE AND GIVE THEM THE BIZNASS THEY DESERVE.

So I've been eating...things. Specifically, things like this!! Waha!:

That right there is the "Crispy Fried Tofu" dish a la The Red Stag Supperclub in NE Mpls. It is so tasty-the tofu was perfectly fried in whatever that thing is around it. I don't even know. And it was seasoned beautifully! Not too salty  and just the right amount of flavor. It left me wanting more, but that's probably because I came super fucking hungry (my bad). The vegetable medley on the side also was delicious and I don't even freaking like radishes BUT SOMEHOW, this place made me like radishes.

All in all, this is a fancy dinner place (*cough*higher-priced*cough*) which is totally cool if that's what you're looking for. The red house wine I had went perfectly with this dish-I walked out very satisfied, but proceeded to follow this up with a Tofutti Cutie (read: again, I was starving).

Get there, folks! And just ask what on the menu can be made vegan-the staff is tres helpful.
GO. NOW.

Old school!

Because I'm so cool!

Or something like that. Hey guyz. Sup.
I haven't posted in a while but you can bet your sweet ass I'm about to now. Because...*drum roll...plz*

GRAD SCHOOL'S OUT.
FOR.
SUMMER!

So here's a tasty tidbit I'm hoping you all got jazzed about-for the month of June (and perhaps continuing in to the future!) Pizza Luce on Selby Ave in St Paul was do vegan slices every Thursday.

And guess who got to try one of these insanely delicious slices? Why, yours truly.

Here we go!

THAT, my dear readers, is the reason why, if you live in Minneapolis, you haul your buns over to St Paul and get yourself a slice. Because this s is off the chain, knowwhatI'msayin?

That there is Luce's signature rinotta (nut cheese...hehe) on their delectable crust with jalapenos, cilantro, banana peppers, and a bunch of other great shit.

My proposition is simply this-call your local Luce and make sure vegan pizza gets on the slice line!! I'm doing it and so should you, because I know you all are cool as hell, or you wouldn't be my readers.

Peace and love y'all.

I mean *cough* DO IT NOW!!

This one's for you, Ryan!!!

We all shaved our heads yesterday in support of my lovely friend, Ryan, who has stage three breast cancer. Here's to her speedy recovery! Love you, lady.

Thursday, May 2, 2013

Help save my friend's life while also helping me kickthe crap out of this competition!

Hey y'all.
I'm not one to ask for help much. I'm pretty fucking self-sufficient, actually. But unfortunately,  need your help in this one, dear readers.
My friend Ryan was recently diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She is undergoing chemo and will need a double masectomy. You may know Ryan from Midwest Vegan Radio, the radio show I interned for back in the day.

My request to you lovely people is to donate! (clicky the link) Anything helps. $5, $1, whatever you got. The goal is $6000 and if you donate and say your sponsoring me, SNorine, I win a prize and get my head shaved.

I know all of you out there want to see me with a shaved head. Even my boyfriend wants to see me with a shaved head.

Thank you all for your kindness and support through this! She is one of my bestest friends and I love her dearly. Your support means the world to her and me.

Sincerely,
MN Vegan

A 2fer!

Are you guys totes pumped right now?! I'm about to update the shit out of this blog. It's been a while, you guys. And I've put so many tasty things in my mouth lately, I just have to gush about it for a sec. Mmk? MMK.

So Dancing Ganesha is bomb. They have this stuff:

Gobi Machurian! It has the consistency of fried chik'n, but sans the chik'n, y'all. In a tasty, tangy tomato-y sauce that, in my mind, embodies umami. Don't know what that is? Clicky! Anyhoo. it's damn tasty. Get some now! If you're visiting them soon, make sure to ask what's vegan on the menu.

Also, I re-visited my favesy Buddhist Chinese restaurant in STP, Bravo! Cafe and Bakery. Hot damn, you guys. Check this shit out:

That there is their Kung Pao "Chicken" and their Sesame "Chicken" with Broccoli. This stuff is heavy on the sauce, but the sauces have so much flavor. I have been cheating on many other Chinese food places in the Twin Cities (*cough* Evergreen *cough*) for the simplicity of the dishes, the price and, what can I say? I know the owner. She's a sweetheart.

There's your eats, y'all. Get some!!! Or else...I'll, uh...explode. And you wouldn't want that because that's gross.

I'm outty!

Oh eee oh eee oh. Ice ice ice.

Brrrrrr...it's cold up here. There must be some Minnesota weather in the atmosphere!!!
*ducks from vegetables being thrown*

Hey y'all. I've been ridiculously busy, borderline redonk busy. But! I've been eatin' and stuff so I'm here with more reviews of some delicious food you can find in my stupid dumb neck of the woods. I say stupid dumb endearingly of course but shitgoddamn MN. You are no fun to bike around right now.

ANYWAYS. Enough ranting. YOU CAME TO SEE SOME FOODZ AND HERE I GIVE YOU...

FOODZ!!!!!!:

So for those of you that don't know me very well, I am a vegan biscuits and gravy expert. Hard Times Cafe has had the reigning vegan b&g's since the dawn of my veganism 8 years ago. The one's you see above are the vegan b&g's from Seward Cafe. Their b&g's have a thicker gravy that is not as flavorful, HOWEVER! I did enjoy the biscuits a lot more than the ones from Hard Times. They were a lot more buttery in taste and softer in texture. I would recommend these to anyone at enjoys a creamier, less intense gravy but I'm going to go ahead and say that Hard Times still takes the (vegan) cake!

Et voila! I missed you guys. Happy new year everyone. Go get yourself some delish vegan b&g's one of these days.  I celebrated me turning a year older and an awesome holiday over break and I'm now ready to kick it all back into gear again.

TTFN. That means goodbye apparently.
